Common Definition
ਆਮ ਪਰਿਭਾਸ਼ਾ
Moon (ਚੰਦਰਮਾ) is in the waxing crescent phase (ਪੜਾਅ). Bit more than one fourth part (ਇਕ ਚੁਥਾਈ ਹਿੱਸਾ) of moon is visible as it faces mostly (ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਹਿੱਸਾ) away from the Earth (ਧਰਤੀ).

ਪੰਚਮਿ ਪੰਚ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਤੇ ਜਿਹ ਜਾਨਿਓ ਪਰਪੰਚੁ ॥ ਕੁਸਮ ਬਾਸ ਬਹੁ ਰੰਗੁ ਘਣੋ ਸਭ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਬਲਬੰਚੁ ॥॥(ਰਾਗ ਗਉੜੀ – ਮ:੫ – ੨੯੭)
Day five symbolises the supreme beings who understand that this materialistic world (that we see, smell, touch, feel and listen) is nothing but an illusion. Impermanent nature of the physical world has the capability to engage me through various short-lived emotions. Physical world is as temporary as color and fragrance of a flower. Only supreme beings realises this phenomenon and focuses on TRUTH, which is permanent.

ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸੱਚਾ ਗੁਰਸਿੱਖ ਬਣਨ ਲਈ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਤੋਂ ਹਰ ਸਮੇਂ ਸਿੱਖਣ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਸਰੀਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਪੰਜ ਗਿਆਨ ਇੰਦਰੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਹੋਂਦੇ ਹਰ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਦੇ ਅਸਥਾਈ ਸੁਭਾਅ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਸਮਝ ਸਕਾਂ |
To be a true Gursikh I need to keep learning all the time from Gurbani, realising the temporary nature of everything I experience with five senses of my human body.
